Nähwerk Alter is a small sewing room on Dundas Street. We shorten, take in, reinforce, and revive garments so they feel intentional again — not merely “fixed”.
Bring a pair of trousers that drag, a jacket that pulls at the shoulders, or a dress that almost works. We measure carefully, discuss the finish you want, and return pieces ready for Edinburgh weather and weekday wear.

Trouser and skirt hems, waist nips, sleeve shortenings, and side-seam adjustments on daywear fabrics.

Jackets, coats, and blazers — sleeves, vents, and lining work handled with structure kept intact.

Broken zips, split seams, loose buttons, and small tears repaired so the garment reads as whole again.

Appointments for formal dresses and bridal gowns: bustles, hem builds, strap and bodice refinements.
